HyGym wanted to update their home gym equipment product photography, from using basic stock photos, to having high-quality imagery of the actual products they sell. As a lot of the equipment that needed to be photographed were large racks and benches, the shoot was to take place at their main HQ over in Calne. The first day of shooting would be focused on the e-commerce side of photographing the products on a clean white background and then the second day was a mixture of lifestyle as well as capturing the models hired for the shoot in the HyGym branded leggings.
HyGym had actually created a mini studio booth to shoot the photos within, which was perfect for the larger squat rack, as it meant during the editing process in Photoshop it was a lot easier to cut out the squat rack from the background. For the smaller items, I did however switch over to using my cloth background to save having to use the pen tool to cut out the items.
On the second of shooting, we used the steel shutter door as a background to shoot against which gave a very modern and interesting texture. This was enhanced by adding a Lee Filters colour gel to turn the standard flash light into something more dynamic. The whole shoot was shot tethered into Capture One, meaning the HyGym team could see the photos directly on my laptop, which due to social distancing worked out very well.
